The Girls

I have to admit I don’t get together often enough with the girls from school, with most of us at uni and Kaliope busy working we struggle finding the time but when we do such as tonight there is nothing better.ciok
Dina, Belinda, Kaliope and myself met for coffee at the local Toscani’s, we all ended up having Cioks (utterly dreamy italian hot chocolate), so having them again.

The big news of the night was that Belinda now has a boyfriend, a fellow chem eng student from Lismore and like Stewart and Dina, they are in all the same classes πŸ™‚ – Had a few collective awws for Bindy over Jason. Spent the rest of the time talking about life, shopping, our guys, family and uni/work. Making plans for a Sunday shopping in a few weeks and hopefully a get together of some sorts for the guys to all meet each other. I am going to visit Kaliope her at work (Tsiknaris Hair)next tuesday to get my hair done πŸ™‚

It was one of those nights when you leave with a smile that stays on your face for hours. I miss my girls when we don’t get together enough. Damm Uni.

I just watched the final Alias episode for season 4 and it gave me a total fright – I jumped in my chair but what a cliffhanger, cripes hey, man they have a lot of explaining to do next season.
This is my Kaliope girl, the violin playing, remedial masseuse, apprentice hair dresser and all round full of fun.

Farewell Night Out

crazy people at the vic

foot notes:
I couldn’t accept all the drinks people were prepared to buy me as I would have got smashed.
Rachel is a pool shark – she won three of the four games against the guys.
People like to knock their beers over.
Taxi is still the call made when people make stuff.
Lemon Lime Bitters with too much Bitters in tastes awful.
two girls deciding that a toilet cubicle is a great place to get some quality time whilst a line is out the door waiting for the toilets is not cool.
Helen really can’t play pool (unless it is on the computer)

Some things I love right now

Finding ink for my printer in the clearance section at Officeworks – Saved $6 just because someone bought the wrong one!

Mum buying me a very funky red polartec jumper for Iceland/rest of my life. It rocks!

The Aussie thread peas for deciding to run an inspired by me challenge, I feel so honoured! Can’t wait to see what they do!

My BrisPea friends for rocking out and always making me laugh! Barb, Beth, Hayley and Leanne and of course their children and husbands for cracking me up as well.

Having ink in my printer, I can print photos!! Have put off buying a new cartridge for a while so my printer has been in hibernation.

Working on my quilt for my eldest sister’s step-son. 14 days to get it done!

This cool link from AmyGBaby Name timeline (my name is dying a slow, slow death)

My little brother Matthew (who is taller and possibly has more hair then I do.. well not quite) for just been so cute with how he views the world.

New books from the library.

Giving Sean the canvas I drew and the message I got this morning saying how much it rocks.

The new albums from Black Eyed Peas, Coldplay and Michael Buble. Ultra cool music!

11 days till the new Dropkick Murphys album comes out!

13 days till my exams finish!

15 days till we leave for Iceland!

forever young

This is my utter most favourite song at the moment, much more meaningful than that ‘I hope you dance’ song (if you are a scrapbooker you might know what I mean).

I had only until recently heard the Bruce Springsteen version and did not “hear” the lyrics, on my quest for new Meat Loaf I saw he did a version, had to get that and then I got the original too. One happy girl πŸ™‚

Going shopping/socialising at Scrap That later today since they have a 35% off sale today πŸ™‚ not that I have much money but I do need to get some supplies for a couple of projects I am working on. Sean’s family is hosting a trivia night tonight, can’t wait for that, going to be a blast, hanging out with Emma (Sean has netball games for the most part tonight), drinking, eating, having fun. Then tomorrow is Cricket, will the Giant Killers continue their winning streak and out bat and out bowl “Have A go”? Cricket is always good for me, I take along my uni work and get a lot of reading done – in this case my reading is research on my current assignment “Changing values in Thai society”. The best part of the weekend? I get to have the silver bullet for the whole weekend!

Forever Young

Bob Dylan (covered by many, Meat Loaf does the best cover)

May God bless and keep you always,
May your wishes all come true,
May you always do for others
And let others do for you.
May you build a ladder to the stars
And climb on every rung,
May you stay forever young,
Forever young, forever young,
May you stay forever young.

May you grow up to be righteous,
May you grow up to be true,
May you always know the truth
And see the lights surrounding you.
May you always be courageous,
Stand upright and be strong,
May you stay forever young,
Forever young, forever young,
May you stay forever young.

May your hands always be busy,
May your feet always be swift,
May you have a strong foundation
When the winds of changes shift.
May your heart always be joyful,
May your song always be sung,
May you stay forever young,
Forever young, forever young,
May you stay forever young.

a good night out and 24″ of subway

Just did my favourite thing to do on a Sunday arvo; watching the latest OC, now going through the photos I took at a soccer game yesterday and trying to decide how to decorate the paper mache briefcase I got at Scrap That yesterday after seeing Rach’s then plain one on her blog.

All the whilst, wondering where on earth my parents are since no note was on the table saying where they went when I got home.

Went out last night and had an absolute ball. Sean and his Thursday night netball team had planned to go out, so we had organised Sean’s dad to take us in (such a legend, always prepared to take any of the kids into the city) and then Michael arrives home from work with Brooke in tow. Seems they were also planning a night out. Sweet now I had a girl to chat to as well as the guys.

First stop of the night was the Port Office, always a good place on Saturday nights; it is so much more popular now then it was a little less than year ago when I first went.
As the night progressed more and more and more people turned up until we decided that it was full enough and we headed down to Fridays.

Had hoped to met Emma there but she was still partying down at The Normanby after the Reds made us proud and won their match against the Sharks 30-25. Good on ya boys!

Spent the rest of the night drinking, dancing and chatting with the guys and Brooke as well as the rest of Phil’s soccer team(Sean and I had gone to their game in the arvo and they had a win), Erin and her friend Renee.
Some of the guys recognised Brisbane Bronco’s player Karmichael Hunt at the bar so went up and had a “chat” with him.

As the night wore on, some of us grew weary, so Michael, Brooke, Sean and I started the walk up to the Casino for a taxi, stopping in a the Vic for the boys to have a game of pool and subway for us all to fuel the hunger with foot long. (The second foot long Sean and I had both had in less then 10hrs!)

At the end of the night it was a fantastic night out, great people, great atmosphere, great drinks and heaps of fun.

Brooke’s 18th

Brooke and MintyLast night partway through Matthew’s 18th party, Sean and I made our way over to Brooke’s 18th, which was also the party for her friend Abby who had turned 18 recently as well. We had a great night, hanging out with guys from Sean’s indoor team, Brooke and her friends as well as the various parents. It was a nice, relaxed night hanging out on the deck, eating, laughing, drinking, chatting and watching a certain someone pretend to feed the dog burbon. <– which was immensley funny to watch the reaction when people thought the dog was been fed burbon.

After the utterly decant cake from Chocolat and home made yummies, we piled into to two maxi taxis to head off to Friday’s for a fun filled night. Hanging out at Friday’s is always great since they have a big outside are to sit, drink, talk etc. Both birthday girls scored us all free entry and they got some free drinks as well. I shouted Brooke a Viagra (Vodka, Blue Curacao and Red Bull). Sean shouted me a Skyy Platinum, which I had not tried before and was very tasty. The highlight of the night for Sean and Dave was for sure their decision to get a Johnny Walker Blue on the rocks between them, costing them AU$25. I had a sip and whoa what a scotch, I think I will stay to the Johnny Black. Somewhere near 2:20am, Sean and I arrived back at his place, after one of the best nights out I had in long time. Happy Birthday Brooke!!
