the four days of easter saw me

Eating way to much chocolate.
Eating way to much fast food.
Watching Without a Paddle, Eurotrip and The Pacifier.
Looking at a dog chewed DVD case, thankfully blockbuster were understanding.
Helping B&D move into their new townhouse.
Snacking on little Easter Eggs in the cinema, very seasonal 🙂
Painting my room.
Driving back and forth between Sean’s place and my place.
Drinking Lemon Archers and Vodka Lemon Lime Orange.
Trying to remember which day the Easter Bunny comes.
Discovering that the How To channel on Foxtel has DIY Scrapbooking, albeit old episodes.
Missing my Sunday morning Will & Grace fix.
Looking at the empty chocolate shelves on Saturday arvo in Coles.
Having a nice time relaxing with friends and family.

How was your Easter long weekend?

Paul Hester

Paul Hester – Dead

Like many Australians or New Zealanders, the songs of Crowded House and Split Enz are songs that are sung sometimes drunkenly at karaoke at the local pub, songs that are belted out at sports games, songs that you turn the volume up when they come on Triple M. So it came as a great shock to me when I saw on the news that Paul Hester is dead, those four words meaning the end of an era.

No chance of revival tours or CDs, no more of that groovey drumming by Paul, no chance of seeing Paul Hestor at Twin Towns. It is all over.

I would like to give my condolences to his family and friends and join with the rest of Australia and New Zealand in expressing our sorrow. Depression is everywhere in our society, I have met many people that are recieving treatment for depression, we must let them tell us what their troubles are, we don’t want to see another sucide in the park. Beyond Blue

Don’t Dream It’s Over
Crowded House

There is freedom within, there is freedom without
Try to catch the deluge in a paper cup
There’s a battle ahead, many battles are lost
But you’ll never see the end of the road
While you’re travelling with me

Hey now, hey now
Don’t dream it’s over
Hey now, hey now
When the world comes in
They come, they come
To build a wall between us
We know they won’t win.

painting is finished

Beforeafter

The painting is finished, all that is left now is for the installation of new wardrobe doors and painting a shelf to match the wall. The increase in light in the room is just amazing.

Whilst the yellow was by no means dark in fact it was quite bright, the light that the white reflects is just amazing, there is less shadows, just so much more light.

In addition to the extra light, the white is just so clean and crisp, the walls and ceiling look fresh.

Big fan of the white.

Big, big, big thanks to Sean for helping me out over the four days and providing his tradie knowledge in repairing holes and cracks in my room, also to my dear mother for providing the paint, to my younger brother and father for helping when needed and staying out the way when not needed.

here we are

Over the last handful of days since purchasing my domain, I have taken a big crash course in css and php. I now have my blog looking fairly well like I want it to, after many reloads of the style sheet, where things where just jumbled. Now after attempt 55ish it looks ok.

The theme is based on the default word press theme, I used this nifty little Kubirck PSD template to make my changes easily, the photo in the header which I love so much, is taken by one of my very dear friends – Barb

white, white, white

PaintFor a couple of months now I have planned the re-painting of my room. Changing it from the current Banana Yellow to a white, mainly to reflect light to my natural light starved room as well as too reduce the colour casts I get in my photographs and to ease colour choices in my scrapbooking. Since Sean and I are undertaking the painting over the Easter 4-day weekend, today we went to Bunnings to hopefully pick up some paint, but only ended up coming home with colour cards.

I had planned to have pure white but Mum and I rationalised that a tinted white would be a better choice.

After comparing way too many “white” choices, I finally chose a colour called Whisper White – quite nice. However, we did not come home with paint due to the lack of customer service we experienced at Bunnings. For close to an hour we compared cards, paint types all whilst never having an assistant comer over and ask if they were able to help. As a retail worker myself, I know how important customer service is. Well Bunnings you just lost my purchases today due to the lack of customer service, I did end up with a nice collection of differing white sample cards but that is all.

I will head out to the local paint store tomorrow to pick up some paint and have a real retail experience with people who are there to serve the customer.
