for the engineers in my life.

Karl, Dina and co and the rest of you.

Mum was given this today.

An engineer was crossing a road one day when a frog called out to him and said, “If you kiss me, I’ll turn into a beautiful princess.”

He bent over, picked up the frog and put it in his pocket. The frog spoke up again and said, “If you kiss me and turn me back into a beautiful princess, I will stay with you for one week.”

The engineer took the frog out of his pocket, smiled at it and returned it to the pocket.

The frog then cried out, “If you kiss me and turn me back into a princess, I’ll stay with you and do ANYTHING you want.” Again the engineer took the frog out, smiled at it and put it back into his pocket.

Finally, the frog asked, “What is the matter? I’ve told you I’m a beautiful princess, that I’ll stay with you for a week and do anything you want. Why won’t you kiss me?”

The engineer said, “Look I’m an engineer. I don’t have time for a girlfriend, but a talking frog, now that’s cool.”

cooking.

In the last 8 nights I have eaten at home for 6 of them and was in charge of preparing them for 4 nights. I am pretty impressed with myself but not with the person who is not pulling his weight around the here.

Matthew helped me out tonight and we created a variation on Helen Staple - Stir Fry Veg/fruit with cous cous.

Simply I love Cous Cous, it is so utterly quick and simple to prepare - x parts cous cous to a little bit less than x parts boiling water, cover and allow to stand till water is absorbed. So, so easy.

The variation tonight was.

Carrots, Onion, Celery, Shallots, Mushroom, Capsicum, Lamb (taken off Forequarter chops) with some Garam Masala and Honey. Some people like to gradually add the veg, but I am firm believer in adding everything except Mushrooms at the same time.

Previous Variations have included Turkey Chops with Tomato added and Moroccan seasoning. Another was Tuna, Cous Cous, tinned tomato, fresh beetroot and assorted veg.

Essentially it is what ever veg/fruit and meat is in the house with what ever seasoning takes my fancy in the cupboard, served of course with Mesclun Leaves dressed with Newman’s Own Caeser Dressing (because salad dressing is not meant to be creamy - another rule of the Palsson kitchen). Enjoy.

A Long Time Ago in a Galaxy Far, Far Away

again a pretty random list.
Things I am thankful for, things I am happy for.

George Lucas, we watched the Revenge of the Sith
today. I was not that excited going in but when those words appeared on the screen. A Long Time Ago in a Galaxy Far, Far Away. :big grin on my face: It was sad though seeing Anakin change, Padmé die, the evil Palpatine.
But interesting thing I noted, when Padme was in the medical unit at the end. Yoda said this

“Save them, we must. They are our last hope”

of course the first/episode 4 SW movie was SW - A new hope. coincidence? I think not.

Sean, happily going with me to the uni library and holding book after book as I searched through the shelves for research for my next essay.

Cat Stevens, discovering more of his works, reminding me that the world is bigger than my house, that no matter how bad I think things sometime are, they are not, there is something good, something better.

this and that.

I really dislike coming up with post titles.

Random stuff
The new theme is made especially for MG.
Word count of assignment handed in today 2201. 2 weeks left and 2 essays to go.
There are still patches of ice around.
Need to go proof the hail photos.
It’s the weekend, tonight I scrapped, watched Serendipity and as usual I cleaned/re-organised my scrap area… again.
Tomorrow, Grandad is discharged from the hospital. YAY :)
Tomorrow I am going to the uni library to get books for the next essay (Why are the Chinese so dominant in SE Asian Business).
Going to go somewhere crazy with Sean tomorrow, somewhere we don’t normally go, somewhere the car will take us, I just want to do something different.

I am Jon. I am Sara. Sigh.

hail or snow?

we just had one incredible hail storm. Matthew’s room started leaking - buckets collected 5cmish of water, matthew had to get up on the roof in the rain and hail to clear the roof, to stop the leaking. Outside it is just white like a snow storm, we have not had hail like this in probably ten years. On our back cement it is/was close to 8cm deep. Lots of hail. ABC News Story hail1 hail2 hail3 hail4

bye, bye Shelley.

I just saw this post over in the CG board - Shelley Laming Forever. So sad :( my kraft cs and inking and random advice girl is gone :(

It is a sad day. Always love seeing Shelley’s work. Best of wishes for the future Shelley and family.

how cool is this?

funky frame from target USA

Isn’t that frame just the funkiest?

a new pick me up.

I was watching an early season 4 episode of Alias and heard this song in the background when a very nice Sydney/Vaughn moment was happening. The lyrics struck a chord with me. They make me smile, take me to a happy place.

by the windowThe Wind
Cat Stevens

I listen to the wind
to the wind of my soul
Where I’ll end up well I think,
only God really knows
I’ve sat upon the setting sun
But never, never never never
I never wanted water once
No, never, never, never

I listen to my words but
they fall far below
I let my music take me
where my heart wants to go
I swam upon the devil’s lake
But never, never never never
I’ll never make the same mistake
No, never, never, never

In other news, the Giant Killers(3/39) beat Have a Go(7/34); the Girls won the Tatts & Tiaras trivia comp on Saturday night (go team); a fun day scrap shopping on Saturday, 35% off at our little hang-out (Scrap That) and then checking out a new store - Scrapbooks etc, nice range, bit pricey, organised by theme :( :( :( :( but so so so pretty and airy; watching Tom Horn with Big Pete, Sean’s netball teams flogging the gold coast teams (80ish-8 and 80ish-20) Go Eagles!

That is how it went, avoiding my essay yet again.
